I've been me...Hi Alex, that is quite the story. I've been meaning to read it for a while and finally did now. It is quite interesting how everyone has a different story over the 200. (320). I run with Rich and Wade and they had done a lot of thinking and planning. Our friend Christa was crewing and she was extrodinaire. I was pretty much doing my own thing but it is not a solo effort. Christa was incredible. My wife Elise, my kids, and my parents were amazing support. It was so important to have help from friends as you describe with Lisa and Tina. We crossed paths, and our tents were close, though i found sleeping in the minivan is great so that is where i was. My son used the tent. I crashed after i finished and my wife and dad thankfully decamped for me. My wife drove me home and I slept. The race was amazing. Tim and Andrea really worked hard, but i bet the number of core volunteers was dozen or dozens and they were great too. I had some slow walking laps and some faster ones too. It is funny how you have so many highs and lows, fasts and slows. It is quite the experience. You would have learned a lot too and i hope your Fatdog 120 is really successful. i am sure you are all recovered now. hope you keep at it. I hope you have some more awesome races this summer also and that with two weeks since Sulphur, that your injuries or niggles or just being tired, are behind you. Fatdog is going to be a beast but it looks so beautiful I couldn't resist. I hope we cross paths again and all the best Rob.The Running Dudehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10770401290247073598noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8944712927132559559.post-79620116654611070332017-06-07T14:33:24.034-07:002017-06-07T14:33:24.034-07:00Congratulations Alex!

I know I was one of the struggling people you ran past. I remember the buddha at the bottom of the three sisters and smiled as you wrote about the offers which changed through the race. So many things you write about here are things I went through during my time on the course (except the rain) and during the recovery.

It was always inspiring to cross paths with the 200 milers. Thank you for helping all the rest of us through our own races.

Again, Congrats. This race was my first ultra and I'm in your first picture :) My husband is to the right in the heaon green shirt, my 13 yr old is beside him in the burgandy shirt, then me and then my 11 yr old. My husband and kids ran the 10k and then my kids ran the last 1k of the 50 with me. I was much slower than you (6:11) but was thrilled to finish my first ultra. And yes, it was stupid hot! I am going to do Run for the Toad in a week and am worrying that the rolling hills are going to be tough. I'm expecting to be even slower but hoping to finish! I assume it will be much tougher than Niagara? Though if it is cooler that would be nice! Your first 50km - a big step - and another one for you coming up soon at Hali. Hope the training has been going well. Hali is very different from Creemore. Read up about it and choose your strategy. Great course and beautiful. Many friendly people and you'll have a wonderful experience. If I don't see you have a fantastic race. I hope you can choose a few races and join us. I am fortunate that I am able able to race and train pretty much when I choose and understand that many people have other things in their lives which means running has to take a back seat. You obviously love your running and I'm glad you find time for it also. I hope your family will come out to the races and cheer you on. I have fond memories of the Niagara Ultra this summer when I had done and was sitting in my chair at the finish with a cold beer, watching other runners. There were a few instances where a Mom or Dad would run in with their little girl or boy or hold their child as they ran across the finish. It was really touching. :) Stay well IanThe Running Dudehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10770401290247073598noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8944712927132559559.post-38113962695832106672013-11-28T13:12:36.849-08:002013-11-28T13:12:36.849-08:00Alex,

I hope you are really pleased with that - tied for 7th place! Amazing run. Looks like you came across the line with Ms. Tinkerbell (Swiss Miss) and her bells. After Leadville I know you said you had energy left and I'm glad you went for the 100 at Hali and nailed it.
